I have been a lawyer since 1984 and I am passionate about my work. I like to say that I am "multidisciplinary", because I have experience in many fields of law. Although I work alone, I keep the name of the firm founded by my father.
I am also a professor at the university and an expert in Spanish law for UK courts. I work indistinctly in Spanish, Catalan and English. At the same time, I dedicate a good part of my time to freewilled social activities, and I am also passionate about this.
But the most important thing is that I am married to Amaya, an exceptional woman, and that we have 10 children.
I have worked in a wide variety of civil and commercial litigation (breaches of agreements between individuals, disputes over distribution or agency agreements, etc). I have also developed extensive experience in personal injury claims and professional malpractice claims against doctors, architects or lawyers. Resolving conflicts in inheritance cases or defending the interests of legally incapable persons or collecting unpaid debts are professional jobs that I have done regularly.
Since the beginning of my professional career I have worked for foreign clients. I have extensive experience in recovering money lost in financial fraud, working in collaboration with attorneys from other jurisdictions. For many years I have been an expert in Spanish law for courts in the United Kingdom and I also have a lot of experience in the execution in Spain of sentences of foreign courts.
As I know the judicial world well and can foresee the difficulties that could arise and what can be done if things go wrong, I have advised effectively in the negotiation and drafting of contracts, in their execution and in their resolution, on a wide variety of topics (agency and distribution agreements, purchase agreements, incorporation of companies, etc.)
I have been involved in a large number of criminal proceedings, both as a prosecutor and as a defender, especially in cases of fraud, misappropriation and tax crimes. Accompanying the client in difficult moments and designing the best strategy to defend their interests, is my specialty.
I have worked for a large number of companies and private clients. These are some of them.
For more than 30 years I have cultivated professional relationships with a large number of lawyers around the world, mainly in Europe. Many of them are also my friends.
I have been a member of the International Fraud Group for more than 20 years and I am currently the Chairman of its Strategic Advisory Board. IFG is an alliance of over 30 law firms with a presence in over 50 countries, formed to combat cross-border fraud and recover stolen assets from jurisdictions around the world.
Since 1988 I have been a member of the European Lawyers Association and I was Vice-Chairman from 1990 to 1991 and Chairman from 1992 to 1995. We are more than 600 members from literally every country in Europe, and what unites us is having carried out studies and internships of English law in the UK through a scholarship granted by the British Council.
Since 1996 I have been a member of Proteus, a network of commercial lawyers from all over Europe, which aims to provide its clients with a comprehensive European legal service.
